Adam & Eve: a love story
intro:
The story of the Garden of Eden is usually about a forbidden fruit. In adam & eve a love poem, I explores the idea that Adam’s divine task of naming the world led to the ultimate loss of innocence. The true fall was in the naming of the first secret, sensual world,
Adam is walking
in the garden
while Eve sits
admiring
the Tree
of the Knowledge
Of Good and Evil.
She bends—naked—
to pick up
the fruit
fallen to
the ground.
Adam notices
the round
apple of her ass.
notices eve’s sex
for the first time
and names
the fig,
fig.
He is filled
with a heat
he has not yet
named.
And there
He names
“craving”.
He walks
over
to Eve, puts
his finger
inside
her.
She moans—
but there is no word
for moan
yet.
Eve reaches
For the
Forbidden fruit
puts it
to her lips
The juice
runs down her face.
It is sweet
and hot—
her lips swell.
At that moment
Adam names
“Want”.
And partakes.
He enters her.
Eve is open.
They move
like the waters
of Eden.
Surge—
a word Adam
has just created.
“I surge with you.”
Eve moans.
And the voice
of the Lord
is walking in the garden.
Adam and Eve
hide—
behind a hedge
of roses.
The voice of God
calls out.
“Adam, Eve, where are you?”
Adam, crouched
behind a rose bush
of thorns thinks up
a new word
and says
to Eve,
“Baby, I think we’re “Busted.”
